Institute of Environmental Science and Technology (ICTA)is an institute of the Autonomous University of Barcelona devoted to environmental research and graduate education, including a PhD program on environmental studies. It integrates researchers from different disciplines, like social sciences, natural sciences, medical sciences, and engineering. It is the leading institute in interdisciplinary environmental research in Spain. It participates in numerous national and international projects.
Piere Riera is a Professor in environmental and natural resource economics, with a special interest in valuation of environmental non-market goods. He lectures in valuation methods and environmental impact assessment at the Autonomous University of Barcelona. He has participated in several related European research projects from the sixth Framework Program, like NEEDS, VULCAN, FFORWOOD, FIRE-LAB, FIRE PARADOX, EXIOPOL, or REMEDE. He is currently the scientific coordinator of the MEDFOREX network within the European Forest Institute, and the chairman of COST Action E45 on best practice protocols for valuing forest externalities.
He is the author of 13 books and more than 70 scientific papers.
Olga Lucia Manrique
Olga Lucia Manrique is a PhD student with Professor Riera. She works on valuation and experimental economics, with a background on game theory and implementation mechanisms, in which field she has already coauthored a book.
